No Show in Johnson County??

What was Mr. Tiahrt doing yesterday?

According to his advertised events and the Johnson County GOP Weekly E-mail, Mr, Tiahrt was supposed to have town hall meetings at libraries in Olathe and Shawnee, however he did not show up to these events. While supporters were waiting, Tiahrt’s staff and campaign never let anybody know that he was not going to be there to fulfill his obligation.

Furthermore, staff at the libraries had no idea that the events had been (apparently) cancelled. Librarians at the two locations were left confused and annoyed because they set up for and expected town hall meetings that the Tiahrt contingent apparently believed were unimportant.

Now I don’t know why Tiahrt refused to show up at these events. In all likelihood he had a very good and serious reason for blowing off his supporters; but regardless of why he didn’t show up, he and his staff had an obligation to not only contact the libraries, but also the Johnson Country Republican Party (that was promoting the events) and the supporters that actually showed up to the events.

By not showing up at these events, Todd Tiahrt has again demonstrated that he cannot be trusted. If Kansas voters cannot trust him to show up to events that he planned and promoted, how can he possibly be trusted to effectively represent the interests of this State as a Senator. Little things like this show us what a person or organization is made out of, and right now Mr. Tiahrt is again proving that promises and obligations mean nothing to him.

Trustworthily Yours,

Publius

  1. It sounds like a very unorganized campaign.

  2. how can a campaign have two organized events that they just "forget" to cancel? didn't that email from the local party remind them? maybe they aren't on the party's email list?

I know I would have been pretty annoyed if I had braved the snow and slick roads to show up for a chance to talk with a sitting congressman the day before this historic and tragic health care bill vote and found no one there and no one with any explanation as to why he wasn't there. This is just like my own congressman, Dennis Moore! Significant lack of respect for the people, inviting them to an event and then just not showing up. At least send a staffer to explain and take the citizens concerns back to the candidate!

  3. He was rallying the troops in DC and yes, the librarians and supporters knew. Again, publius, you are lying.

  4. Supporters were well aware but when people like publius support Jerry Moran, it makes you wonder who Jerry Moran really is. We all know by now that Moran cannot be trusted. He has changed his tune since he began running his campaign, has employed very shady people and continues to lie to Kansas. Tiahrt is consistent and is willing to fight for Kansans unlike Jerry who has a history of being a no show. Just ask his colleagues at both the federal and state levels. Moran cannot nor should be trusted.

  5. All those involved with the organization of the town hall were well aware of the situation

  6. I am not a Moran or a Tihart supporter and I did not know he was going to be in D.C. I chose not to attend the Congressional debate at the high school in favor of hearing Mr. Tiahrt speak. I found out about the forums from the Johnson County Republican Party and was not told the event was canceled. It was rude and inconsiderate.

Now I am a Moran supporter.

  7. By your comment you were never on the fence. Rather you were always a Moran supporter which is your decision but at least be honest. I find it interesting that Jerry and Co is out again not being honest. Again, everbody involved with setting up and organizing the townhall meeting were well aware of this.
